The Magic and Kids Magic of Chad Wonder
Kids Magic and family friendly entertainment are my specialties. I was recently voted as Nickelodeons Entertainer of the Year. My action packed shows are appealing to all audiences, from the youngest of kids to the “senior’est” of our senior citizens. With 28 years of experience, you’ll enjoy my exceptional showmanship and the ability to entertain any types of audience. But don’t just take my word for it, Nickelodeon is a proven judge of quality.
So what type of magic do I perform?
In professional terms it’s called parlor magic. This refers to magic that, back around the turn of the 20th century, would have been performed in just that, a small parlor, in front of a small audience. At its essence, it’s a scaled down stage show. The magic is big, there are a lot of “illusions,” but it’s all done within the confines of a smaller area (like a living room or community room). The props are all handheld, and depending upon the show, may include appearing scarves, color changing object or my favorite, wooden rabbits, ropes and of course, the Dastardly Saw of Danger.
My Birthday show (October 2010):
The show begins with music and a quick series of appearing objects. The musical opening concludes with a ‘complexing’ rope routine. Next we step into the twilight zone and try to figure out how objects rearrange themselves without any means to do so. We transition into some fun unexplained happenings with a huge crayons, a coloring book and possibly a straight jacket escape. Next a small rabbit “disappears” while the kids try to convince me it’s still there. The show is closed with two illusions: The birthday child or willing assistant braves the Dastardly Saw of Danger and large wooden rabbits mysteriously trade places with a surprising and mystifying ending your son or daughter helps to create.
The Senior Care Facility show (October 2010):
The show begins with music and a quick series of appearing objects. The musical opening concludes with a ‘complexing’ rope routine. Next we step into the twilight zone and try to figure out how objects rearrange themselves without any means to do so. We transition into a beautifully choreographed linking rings routine where solid passes through solid. The audience discovers a mistake in the next trick only to be fooled by the surprise ending. The final illusions include a straight jacket escape and the mystical color changing wooden rabbits,
My parlor show is huge compared to many others you might see. Although I can compact it is necessary, I set up 4 tables, bring an 8 foot wide backdrop and my own portable lighting system. All in all, my optimum area is 10 feet wide by 10 feet deep plus room for the audience.
